Summer fitness training
Training 21 July
Players about to begin a newaza practice
Training this Tuesday will NOT be affected by the school’s Year 6 farewell party.
We would ask all players arriving by car to park somewhere other than the main playground, as this will be in use. Hopefully there will be room in the staff carpark, although some teachers will still be on site.
Tuesday’s session will feature our famous Bring a parent night, whilst the adult session will be hosting Harry and Emily of Sport Hampshire as part of their 50 Sport Challenge. All older juniors are invited to attend this session.
This will be our final dojo session of the year, however we will be training outdoors at Hilsea Creek as we did last year.
Mat sessions will recommence on Thursday 3 September.
Don’t forget Saturday’s randori session!
Training session at Matsumae Cup 2005
Don’t forget there is an open mat randori session at Holbrook Judo Club tomorrow – 18 July.
Session runs from 10 – 12 noon, at Brune Park School, Military Road, Gosport.
Four mat areas will be in use, with over 40 players expected.
A £5 mat fee will be applied.
If you wish to make a day of it – bouncy castles etc., will be set up for the afternoon on the field…

Our final session of the term on 21 July will be a Bring a Parent night!
Get your mum, dad, grandad, grandmother, sister, brother on the mat! Anytime between 6 and 8pm, pitch up and join in for a £1 mat fee.
Will they be able to match 79 year old Kyuzo Mifune in the video above?
Summer training programme
Judo may be coming to a close for the summer – our final session is Tuesday 21 July – but as with last year we will be training over the summer.
Starting from 28 July, we will be meeting every Tuesday at Hilsea Lines, using the open space where Peronne Road crosses the creek to Highbury – see the map for more details. Parking is available either in Peronne Road, Hilsea, or Tudor Crescent, Highbury – just walk over the “Curly Wurly” bridge to join us.
Time
1830 to 1930, approximately.
Cost
£2.00 per session
Clothing, etc.
Suitable for outdoor sports – school PE kit or similar would be fine, sensible sports footwear.
Be prepared to get dirty!
Please bring your own water.
Any cancellations due to adverse weather will be publicised via the website, Facebook and Twitter.
Judo taster sessions at Court Lane Summer Fair
We will be running taster sessions throughout the day during the Court Lane Junior School Summer Fair on July 11th. Why not come along and try out this exciting Olympic martial art?
All club players are welcome to drop in and assist during the sessions.
Make sure you don’t miss our demonstration team at 11.45! Our team includes players who have represented both Portsmouth and Hampshire, and competed in international tournaments.
Doors open at 10am.
Randori session at Holbrook Judo Club
Players are invited to join Holbrook Judo Club in their end of term randori on 18 July.
The session will run from 10-12noon at Brune Park School, Military Road, Gosport. As with the training session announced for 4 July, there will be a £5 mat fee.

Training session with Holbrook Judo Club
Court Lane and Holbrook players in Royan
Court Lane players are once again invited to train with Holbrook Judo Club, on July 4th. The session will be led by David Tooby, with Paul Vella and Kieron Eagles.
All players attending will benefit from training with other players. Additionally, mat fees from this session go towards subsidising travel and gifts for next year’s visit to Royan.
We have agreed with Holbrook JC that priority for non-Holbrook players wishing to travel to Royan next year, will be given to those who have supported these additional sessions.
The session will run from 10 – 12noon at Brune Park School, Military Road, Gosport.
No Judo May half term
As usual, there will be no Judo over the May half term:
- Tuesday 26 May
- Thursday 28 May
Classes will recommence Tuesday 2 June.
Judo recommences Tuesday 21 April
