Thanks to Steve for his hospitality and tuition Monday night (15th June 2013). Assisted on the mat by our own Kev, the kids went over left & right throwing techniques and the importance of the hands in kuzushi, using de ashi barai as the technique.
Highlight of the evening though was the showdown between between Court Lane and Havant for the Spreadbury Cup. The Spreadbury Cup was set up by the clubs’ founder to generate a bit of competition between the two clubs. This has been in the hands of Havant for far too long. But our kids are a bit older and stronger now and for the first time in a long time, the cup is back in the hands of Court Lane Judo Club.
We have no doubt that Steve will be back with a vengeance in the return leg towards the end of the year.
