Judo and more, in Le Havre
Places now being offered to Portsmouth area Judo players 2 – 4 June 2017, training and more in Le-Havre with JPG judo!
This will cost £39.00 child and £79.00 adult, players will need to have adequate insurance as well, but this promises to be a good weekend trip travelling as foot passengers from Portsmouth International Ferry Port.

March randori session
Court Lane junior players are invited to take part in a randori session at Holbrook Judo Club on 4th March.
As usual, the session will run from 10-12 noon at Holbrook Judo Club, Brune Park School, Military Road, Gosport.
A mat fee will apply.
Remember, the grading syllabus expects that you are engaging in randori suitable to your grade, whether that be in your club, inter-club, county, area etc.
Weapons session
As promised last week, our second session tomorrow (16 February) will focus on weapons – both their use and defense techniques.
We will draw on techniques from both goshin justsu no kata (forms of self defence) and kime no kata (forms of decision).
Saturday training session with European and World medallists
As mentioned on Tuesday, Court Lane players are welcome to attend a training session this Saturday (18 February)with multiple European and World masters medallists Derek and Sarah Hopkins, at Holbrook Judo Club.
These are always popular, well attended sessions at which you will learn a lot.
The session runs from 10-12 noon at Holbrook Judo Club, Brune Park Community School, Military Road, Gosport.
No Judo during February halfterm
Please note that as the school site manager will not be working in the evenings during the February halfterm, we are unable to run classes.
This means there will be no judo on the following dates:
- 21 February
- 23 February
Sessions will recommence as normal from Tuesday 28 February.

Hampshire squad sessions – reminder
Hampshire squad sessions are run for the benefit of all Hampshire players. The last session had 50 players on the mat, but disappointingly only representative from Court Lane.
This session also included an update on the latest rule changes.

Hampshire junior squad dates announced
Dates have been announced for next Hampshire squad sessions.
In line with the policy of rotating sessions around the County to build interest and encourage participation, these sessions will be held in the north of the county (previous sessions have been in the south (Gosport) and central/west (Eastleigh)).
Sessions will be hosted by Osaka Judo Club, at their dojo in Aldershot:

Session will run from 10-12, with a £5.00 mat fee
All competitive juniors aged 8+ are welcome to attend. These events will be used to select team to represent Hampshire in the annual Southern Area Intercounties event.

- Sunday 2 April
Snow is falling!
Snow is forecast on Thursday.
If you are like me, you are probably excited by this, although it probably is going to be too wet for it to settle.
It may possible cause some disruption however, especially as it appears likely to hit Portsmouth during the evening rush hour.
At present, we are planning on the Club being open as usual. If anything should change, we will endeavour to let people know via the Club website, Twitter and Facebook.
