The event has now relocated to Medway Park, Gillingham, after several years at Crystal Palace.

Hampshire Games update
Following Tuesday night’s Hampshire committee meeting, proposed new date for the Judo competition is at the end of October.
Availability is to be confirmed with Fleming Park Leisure Centre
Don Werner Memorial Championships
We have received entry forms for the above Championships, to be held at High Wycombe Judo Centre in July.
Looking at the grade banding, I would expect this to be very competitive, so not suitable for those players with little or no competition experience.

Hampshire & IoW Games Judo cancelled
As you are probably all aware by now, the Judo competition scheduled for Saturday 20 June as part of this year’s Hampshire & Isle of Wight Games, was cancelled late on Friday afternoon. Here is the official announcement from Lynn Stringer on Hampshire Judo’s Facebook page:
HAMPSHIRE GAMES – JUDO
Just to let you know, we have decided to postpone the Judo event which was due to be held at Fleming Park Eastleigh tomorrow.
Due to the low level of entries we decided that it wasn’t fair on the children to expect them to turn out for a couple of fights each. Paul [Hamilton – Hampshire Chair], Peter [Blakemore – Competition organiser]and I will be at the Hampshire Judo Committee Meeting on Tuesday, and we will find an [sic] suitable time later in the year to hold the event. This will give all the areas time to hold selection trials, and get a team together. I will send out full details once a decision has been made on the new date.
Apologies for the short notice, but hopefully everyone will benefit from the delay and we will have a great day later in the year.
As soon as I have any more information regarding dates, format I will let you all know.
Apologies for any disappointment and inconvenience caused.
Hampshire hosts Southern Area team tournament
This year’s inter county tournament will be hosted by Hampshire Judo, at Fleming Park Leisure Centre, on Sunday 3rd May.
Junior and senior teams from Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and Kent will be in action over the course of the day.
Team judo is immensely exciting, if you are free please go along and support your team!

Closing dates for forthcoming grade banded competitions are fast approaching! Make sure you get those entries in so you don’t miss out!
Court Lane players benefit from competition training event
Four of Court Lane’s novice players took part in a competition preparation event hosted by Holbrook Judo Club.
Referee David Tooby explained competition etiquette, such as entering and leaving the area, which belt to wear etc., and the importance of osaekomi and toketa. The scoreboard was also explained.
Players then took part in a round robin match, with explanation of the scores, penalties etc., as they occurred.
Our four players all behaved impeccably, and demonstrated some good judo skills. It was particularly pleasing to see them all developing over the course of their three or four contests.

High Wycombe medals end year on high
Azhar Baree, Jack Marshall and Mos Hannan all competed in the over-12 section of the final High Wycombe Mini Mons on Saturday 20 December.
Azhar missed out on a gold medal by the narrowest of margins, whilst Jack and Mos returned with bronze.
It was a well attended competition, with a good standard of judo on display from all the players, and our players acquitted themselves well.

Joel returns to competition with bronze at South Coast Open
Joel Bassil made his return to competition today with a bronze medal at the -16 South Coast Open in Worthing.
The competition drew players from a wide area, with combatants attending from clubs such as Pinewood and Moberley.
The sole representative of the Club in action, Joel came second in his pool to enter the knock out stages and progress to the semifinal. Joel did well to escape from two hold downs, but sadly couldn’t avoid giving away a decisive score, and had to settle for bronze.

Hampshire Judo has set dates for its competitions and gradings during 2015. They are as follows:-

All of these will take place at Fleming Park Leisure Centre, Passfield Avenue, Eastleigh, Hampshire SO50 9NL
Gradings
During 2015, Hampshire Judo will be holding Hampshire Kyu and Dan Gradings in two locations in the County.
February and August are being held at AWE Judo Club, Main Gym , Recreation Society, West Gate, Tadley, Hampshire, RG7 4PR
